Peter L. Chandler received the Cruising Club of America's 2020 Richard S. Nye Trophy. This prize is awarded to a member of the Club who has brought distinction to the Club through meritorious service, outstanding seamanship, and statesmanship in the affairs of international yachting.

Peter Chandler has quietly managed the finances of the CCA for 20 years and of the Boston Station of the Club for 13 years prior to that. Throughout that time, the top leadership of the Club always had confidence that a firm hand that knew how to steer was at the financial helm.  During Chandler’s tenure, there were many Club events organized by various club members at far-off locations, each of which required substantial transfers of funds. The disciplined procedures that Chandler instituted and followed saved many an organizer’s reputation.  All was in a day of volunteered work for Chandler and his trophy is well deserved.

The Cruising Club of America (CCA) has awarded this trophy continuously since 1978 in honor of Commodore Richard Nye. The trophy is donated by the many crew members who have enjoyed the privilege of sailing aboard Richard Nye’s various yachts named Carina.
