Fall Meeting 2019

The Battery Wharf Hotel will be the hub of the Club’s three-day activities. Registration, committee meetings, water taxi, cocktails and dinner on Friday night overlooking Boston Harbor, Freedom Trail and Charles River tours will all revolve around this boutique hotel. 

Online registration for the Fall Meeting is planned to begin in June.

Onsite registration and committee meetings begin on Thursday afternoon. On Friday morning there will be a New Member Coffee to introduce new members to the club leadership and committee chairs. (Invitation to follow.)

Committee meetings will be from Thursday afternoon though all day Friday and the meetings’ schedule will be posted closer to registration.  All members are invited to audit most meetings which include Safety and Seamanship, Communications, Bonnell Cove, Events, Archives, Environment of the Sea, Charts and Guides, Financial Affairs, Investments, and of course the Board Meeting beginning at 3:00PM on Friday afternoon. Attending meetings is a great way for members to meet Club leadership and committee chairs and to find out what’s going on in the Club.

USS Constitution Tour and Opening Reception – Thursday Night, October 10th.

USS ConstitutionThe Boston Station will welcome you to our Fall Meeting with a Thursday night reception at the USS Constitution Museum, located in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard.  This festive event begins with a tour of “Old Ironsides” herself. Enjoy a “once in a lifetime” opportunity to explore this enduring symbol of our nation’s finest traditions of honor, courage and seamanship. Then join us for a wine, beer and “rum keg” reception to be held across the dock at the USS Constitution Museum, where the galleries brilliantly chronicle the 220-year history of this amazing ship.

Walk the Freedom Trail – Discover the “Cradle of Liberty” -   Friday, October 11th

You can explore the American Revolution as it began in Boston when you join our very own Freedom Trail walk. This 2.5-mile journey leads to 16 historically significant sites, each an authentic treasure unique to Boston. Beginning on the Common, beneath the gilded dome of our State House, we’ll guide you through meeting houses and massacres, burying grounds and battle sites, Faneuil Hall and Paul Revere’s home, and more. You’ll learn about the bravery of those who shaped our nation as you explore over 250-years of history. Celebrate Boston where it all began!

Cruise the Charles River –Enjoy Beautiful Views of Boston and Cambridge – Sat., October 12th.

Join us for jaunt up river aboard Charles 1 (see photo). Cruise past Beacon Hill, Back Bay, and Fenway, and take in the sights of academia, the neo-classic stateliness of MIT, the gothic grandeur of Marsh Chapel at BU, and the elegant brick quadrangles and towers of Harvard. A special treat will be the multitude of oarsmen and oarswomen preparing for the upcoming and world-renowned Head of the Charles Regatta. This is indeed a sight to be seen on a beautiful fall day in New England!

Safety at Sea Seminar for Members Only, October 13 (Rhode Island)

Mark Lenci has arranged for a course specifically for CCA and NYYC members and their families. CCA members attending the Fall Meeting in Boston may want to head on up to Rhode Island to attend. There are two courses - one on Saturday, October 12 open to the public; and an identical course for CCA/NYYC members on Sunday, October 13.
