The New York Station will hold its next event on Thursday, March 21st at American Yacht Club. We will meet for cocktails and dinner at 6:30pm followed by a presentation of  ‘Things on My Mind’ by John Rousmaniere.
Per John,
A lot of things are on all our minds these days, aren't there?
Dick Carter's look back at the origins of modern ocean racing and rating rules
40th anniversary of the Fastnet storm in which those boats and rules were tested (and some failed)
The Fastnet-stimulated self-analysis that triggered the safety-at-sea movement in which the CCA played -- and continues to play -- such a big role
And then there's the CCA history that John’s been asked to write
John is an author of 30 historical. technical, and instructional books on sailing, yachting history, New York history, business history, and the histories of clubs, businesses, and other organizations. An authority on seamanship and boating safety, he has conducted tests of equipment and sailing skills, and led or participated in fact-finding inquiries into boating accidents. He has been presented with several awards for his writing and his contributions to boating safety and seamanship.
This will be a fantastic evening.
Dinner is $39 per person with a cash bar.
